STACK is an O and A level college. It was established in October 2003 but actually opened on the 2nd August 2004 for students.

Its aim is to provide quality British education to a wide variety of students from all over Karachi, with a difference. The difference is in the style of teaching and the approach of the teachers. STACK stands for Students and Teachers Academic College of Karachi. The emphasis being on 'Students & Teachers', since we not only provide 'education' for students through the O & A level courses offered here, but we also provide 'education', through our specialist Teacher Training. The teacher training offered here has not been offered anywhere else in Karachi, or Pakistan, until now. {It is based on 'standards of teacher training qualifications for Further Education, in England.} This means that our teachers training is based on an internationally recognised standard, developed specifically for the British, Cambridge O & A levels system. This 'difference' is what MAKES the quality of education provided to our students.

Teacher training has been one of the main focuses of establishing STACK. The reason for this is the prevailing situation of the educational facilities currently in practice, which are commonly being practiced in the majority of English medium schools all over Karachi. The monopolisation of tuition centres and 'home tuition' has provided a cloak of rampant and unfair commercialism that has unfortunately become a major standard of education these days. We intend to change that standard and provide a genuine foundation for our youths and our country's future.

Being parents first and then educators, we recognise the pains parents go through during this phase of their children's education, finding the right school and then facing problems with the teaching standards, resulting in the de-motivation and de-moralisation of potentially good students.

  • We recognise the fact (as parents) that each child has their own individual potential. It just depends on the capability of the teacher in helping each student, not only the 'brighter' ones to recognise their potential and utilise it to the fullest, helping him/her to achieve the best they can make of themselves.

  • We recognise the struggle some students to through in relating to teachers, facing common teenage problems and some not some common problems, problems such as peer pressure, emotional instability, lack of self confidence etc. Our goal is to counsel the students with their problems and help them to cope with them.

  • We aim to build our students character and give them a solid enough foundation to face whatever comes their way in their future life as adults.

  • We guide them in social etiquette and behaviour which is appropriate to our present society inculcating in them a feeling of both moral and social responsibility and accountability.

  • We encourage and guide students in choosing the right career according to their aptitude and potential.

  • We encourage each student to recognise their own potential and achieve the best they are capable of at the same time giving them a feeling of self-worth and confidence.

  • We recognise the agonies parents go through when struggling to give the best to their children by educating them, as well as the disappointments they face when their hopes for their child's academic future is left without direction.

  • We provide specialist career counselling to all our students, guiding our student into making the best choices for a better future.

  • We are essentially a window to the international world of academics, providing students vast opportunities and guidance into achieving higher education in the UK.

  • We are associated with Huddersfield University and are linked to several UK colleges and universities all around the UK.

  • We will guide our students in gaining admission into A' level, foundation level or University courses in the UK.

  • We recognise that good teachers are not necessarily those who help A' grade students to pass with A grades, but those who get average or even below average students to achieve a B or A grade.

  • We recognise the needs of students who have been born or brought up abroad and who face difficultly adjusting to the local environment.

STACK is a newly founded, Cambridge O and A level specialist college which has been established to cater to the requirement of increasing number of O and A level students in Karachi. The teachers have been trained to teach specifically for O' and A' level subjects and are highly qualified and experienced.

Here at STACK, we have a clear vision of the future and a determination to prepare our pupils for life in an ever-developing competitive word. Whilst providing for young people who wish to enter Higher Education, we do, of course cater for those who have yet to come to a firm decision regarding their future careers. What we do expect from our student, most of all is, a firm commitment and desire to continue with academic study. Our aim is to produce well-rounded, mature, confident individuals with motivation to succeed and hence face-on, all the challenges life has to offer.

O level students are at a very delicate time in their young lives, they are not quite adults but individuals who are ready to mature in to adulthood. This aspect is reflected in our approach in teaching. Trained and experienced counseling to the students whenever needed, whether for academic problems or any other problem the students may be facing.

Special attention is paid to overseas Pakistani students who may be new to the environment and culture of Pakistan. Staff members have been guided as to how to help these students settle down and feel welcome in the best manner possible. Since most of the staff are trained and qualified from abroad they have a good understanding about the problems, which such students usually face.

Our staff has been trained specifically for teaching O and A levels by our British associates and has a thorough understanding of the Cambridge system of education as well as the academics involved.

Dedicated and motivated teachers and staff provide an ideal academic atmosphere for students at all levels. A wide variety of resources are available to the student in all subjects. Up to date and relevant facilities required to enhance the students academic understanding are made available to students at all times.

Although remedial classes are made available whenever necessary to the students, teachers are not allowed to 'tutor' students privately at their homes. This is against college policy. All students are catered to at the college premises and as much time is given to the student as and when he/she requires extra help.

The colleges with which STACK is linked offer a wide range of career-orientated courses that cater to students at all academic levels.

Here at STACK students are encouraged to read widely, to question and analyse what they read, discuss their ideas and opinions in seminars and tutorials and to bring originality to their work. Through out their studies, the emphasis is on creative and independent thought. This helps students to develop the intellectual and problem-solving skills needed to compete in the global job market.
